Jon Nix, Co-Founder

Background: Jon earned a Doctorate in Geography from Royal Holloway, University of London, bringing a strong sense of dedication and drive to CornerWays. His extensive experience of the Internet as a web site designer, developer, and community-builder has provided CornerWays with the ability to provide clients comprehensive solutions.

Experience: Jon began his Internet career in the mid- 90s working as one of the first volunteer UK Guides for AOL and was subsequently promoted to the position of the first UK Deputy Guide Supervisor with responsibility for both the daily practice and policy-making of the Guide Program. Leaving the Guides, he became a producer in the "Communities" Channel at AOL UK, overseeing several major content developments and re-launches, as well as managing a considerable number of volunteer hosts.

Jon has run his own UK-based web site design and consultancy business, Iconix, since 1998. This has resulted in wide-ranging experience of design and programming as well as moderation and community management. He is also a founding partner of Solo-E, a website for solo entrepeneurs.

Pam Thomas, Co-Founder

"For as long as I can remember I have been intrigued by the concept of bringing people together around ideas, common interests and good causes. That is what makes my role as an online community developer so rewarding; seeing people come together to share and collaborate."

Background: With a degree in Creative Writing and minor in Journalism from the University of Arizona, Pam began her career in community building long before communities started on the Web. Prior to a career on the Internet, she served as the co-founder and executive director of a non-profit AIDS prevention organization for youth where she established community outreach programs in local high schools servicing 16,000 youth in a three year period of time.

Experience: In 1994, as a stay-at-home mom, Pam discovered the opportunity to develop community using the Internet's electronic medium to reach others. Her first experience in online community building was with the Guide Program on America Online, a trainer for AOL's KARES program and then as a community manager for iVillage's AOL site; Parent Soup.

Prior to the formation of CornerWays, she helped provide community building services to organizations such as Arts and Entertainment Television (A&E TV), Martha Stewart Living, Children's Television Workshop (CTW), N2K's Rocktropolis, the IBM/US Open (USTA), Yahoo!, IBM/NFL Super Bowl and AT&T.

Pam brings extensive experience in the field of online community development to CornerWays. She specializes in formulating community growth and management strategies, including live event and focus group production and content development.

Pam is also founding partner of Solo-E, former editor and writer for the column "As You See It" and a personal and business development coach, as well as working on her Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
